Advanced Bioelectrochemical Reactor Design for Wastewater Treatment and Electricity Generation (CLEAR-bio)

CLEAR-bio (Continuous Loop Electrochemical Airlift bioreactor) develops an annular, zero-gap bioelectrochemical reactor that treats wastewater and produces electricity. Airlift circulation sets the hydrodynamics, and the zero-gap design lowers internal resistance [197, 174] [patent 11].

  • Electrode materials for anode and cathode [207, 192, 135, 106]
  • Reactor geometry and scale-up from lab to pilot [197]
  • Integration with hydrogen and product recovery routes [187, 101]
