Biography

Arief is a Ph.D. student working in the Multiscale Reaction Engineering Group (MuRE) at KAUST under the supervision of Professor Pedro Castano.
He obtained his bachelor's and master's degrees in 2022 and 2024, respectively, from Osaka University, where his research focused on developing non-noble metal-based heterogeneous catalysts for biomass upgrade and plastic depolymerization.
His current Ph.D. research focuses on the design and optimization of electro-reactor and electrocatalyst for the valorization of CO2 into valuable fuels and chemicals, as well as bio- and electro-reactor applications for fuel cells and chemical products via waste upgrade.

Research Interests

Optimizing electrocatalysts and electro-reactor design for valorizing CO2 into valuable fuels and chemicals and bio- and electro-reactor applications for waste upgrading.
