Biography

I obtained mi BSc in Chemical Engineering (2016) and my MSc in Environmental Engineering (2017) at the University of Valladolid, during which I started my research career at VOC&Odour Treatment group, working in the elimination of methane in streams with low concentration by biological processes obtaining ectoin as main product.

After completing my master's degree, I continued my professional career in the business world in various companies oriented to the service sector in the management of maintenance and operation contracts.

In October 2019 I resumed my research career in the Process Control and Supervision (CSP) group, within the Department of Systems Engineering and Automation (DISA) at the University of Valladolid, orienting my research to fed-batch Bioreactor modeling.

Currently, I am working as a PhD Student in the University of the Basque Country as I was granted a fellowship by this university in 2020. My PhD Thesis is focused on the joint valorization of vacuum gasoil and high density poliethilene pyrolysis waxes, with the aim of maximizing the production of automotive-like fuels while trying to avoid the mismanagement of plastic waste at its end-of-life.

During the development of these research works I have acquired various knowledge ranging from reactor experimentation (both bioreactors of different types and chemical reactors), analytical techniques, kinetic modeling and hydrocracking mechanisms.

Research Interests

My research interests started with the elimination of greenhouse gases (such as CH4) through biotechnological processes obtaining high added value products. In particular, my BSc and MSc thesis focused on obtaining ectoin by means of Methylomicrobium alcaliphilum 20Z. After starting in the PROCAT-VARES research group, my interests shifted towards catalytic processes for the efficient management of waste from refinery products (such as plastics). Specifically, my research focuses on co-feeding the waxes resulting from the pyrolysis of plastics with the heavy streams from refineries for their hydroprocessing, increasing the efficiency of the overall process by developing catalysts and finding the optimal operating conditions.
